The mission of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, an intellectually stimulating, diverse, inclusive, and collaborative community, is to:
Educate and nurture academically talented students to become state, national, and global leaders,
Increase access to high-quality public education in North Carolina, and
Cultivate engaged citizens who will work for the betterment of the world, through challenging programs, with an emphasis on STEM, driven by the pursuit of excellence and innovation.
To maximize community impact, the foundation prioritizes strengthening programs already in place. Funding is allocated across the following areas:
Primary Concentrations:
Higher Education: Growing established programs and scholarship endowments across North Carolina.
Healthcare: Funding medical research and health programs, primarily by expanding funds at North Carolina medical facilities.
Youth Development: Supporting legacy youth programs aligned with the foundation's history.
Community Grants:
After meeting major areas of concentration, grant requests are considered from non-profit, charitable organizations located primarily in Caldwell County, North Carolina.
Discouraged Requests:
New funding requests for national or state free enterprise education organizations are discouraged.
Funding requests from churches and public schools are also discouraged.
